THE CUSTOMER

Sunburst Type to Learn is a research-based online typing program with a focus on keyboarding proficiency. Sunburst Digital has connected educators with supplemental instructional technology and digital education solutions for three decades. These solutions are found in more than 97% of U.S. school districts.

THE PROBLEM

  • Sunburst already had a partially implemented system, but had its own set of issues and concerns. Based on it major priority was given to providing the optimum experience and scaling their application was of the utmost importance so that the application could be capable of handling multiple users at a time without slowing down the experience of each user.
  • Another specific requirement that Sunburst wanted Folio3 to look into was maintaining the security and overall performance of the application.

FOLIO3 SOLUTION

In order to solve the above problems Folio3 decided to implement the following:
  • Web app using AWS ECS with autoscaling
  • Database on RDS
  • Redis for cache
  • S3 and cloudfront for App
  • AWS Code pipeline and bitbucket for repo
